IE and Fx v. Simple Lightbox
Site:
Everything looks the way it should in Fx as usual, but IE refuses to work.
Here’s whats up:
On the "Submit Complaint" page there’s a "Why" link at the bottom. Click it.
In Fx, some script I copied from a tutorial works awesome, giving a nice lightbox to a user.
In IE however, the box shows up, but there’s no "shade" behind it as with Fx. What’s more one cannot close the box, the page needs to be refreshed.
I don’t even give a shit anymore about rounded corners for that particular div, just the shading.
I’ve tried having a 1px 50% opaque .png image as the background for #shade, but to no avail in either Fx or IE.
If you want code here, I’ll post it here, but it’s all online thru the link above.
Thanks,
- K

Site might be potential lulz. What is Martin’s?
Josh: I’m running IE 8, I’ll look at that error, and I’ll also add that rule and post back with results.
Thanks for your replies.
Falconer:
Martin’s is a grocery store who replaced a well loved, family owned chain called Ukrops here in Richmond. I’ve found that people (the general public, and employees of Martin’s and Ukrops alike) hate this change.
The site is intended to be a place where people can post their gripes about Martin’s.
Josh:
Adding the CSS rule you gave me didn’t work.
I’m not sure about the error your browser gave you though. The URI it’s referring to is the jQuery library. I don’t know if I should/could be editing that…
So you know, when that box appears in Opera, it won’t let me close it. I clicked the "x" as well as quite a bit of the area around it but nothing got rid of it.
Screen of my Opera window:
That’s pretty much how it worked for me in IE.
I figure the TS is just doing something wrong or he’s using a bad script. Either way, javascript model popups are an incredibly simple thing to accomplish. There’s no reason why a web developer shouldn’t be able to get this accomplished with relative ease.
