Hopkins Manufacturing Corp. designs, manufactures and markets a diverse line of products targeted at the automotive aftermarket. The automotive world is trending into new areas and we will have new products ready to meet the expanding automotive options in the 21st century. Hopkins Mfg, Corp. is seeking someone to manage the flow of these ideas and make them visual as we define and engineer our products of the future.

Job Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for the visual design of new products, or upgrades of current products that target the automotive aftermarket. We are looking for a designer who can create practical yet striking visual concepts targeting a variety of consumers. Someone who can design for our current market yet provide a path to migrate the product into the future. Design efforts will concentrate on plastic and fabric products, with domestic and overseas sources, and both low and high volume products. The ability to create designs to bridge the gap between the consumer, marketing, engineering, and manufacturing is desirable.

We are seeking an experienced individual who can balance creativity and accomplishment while using organizational skills to keep new ideas flowing from themselves and others. An individual able to function independently as a project leader, while maintaining open channels of communication with collaborating departments. Understanding and matching the trends of the general market with those of our customers will also be part of this position. The creation of sketches, renderings, and prototypes to sell the concepts that our company has sponsored will be critical.

This position will report to the Vice President of Engineering, while working closely with the Marketing and Design Engineering groups. If you have a desire to see your designs on the shelves of a plethora of major retailers, this may be the position for you!

Ideal Qualifications
• Degree in Industrial Design, BFA or the equivalent
• Ability to maintain multiple project schedules
• Ability to effectively sketch concepts, and communicate ideas visually
• Ability to design for manufacturability
• Ability to develop patentable product features
• Ability to communicate concepts and ideas in presentations to external departments
• 3 to 10 years experience in consumer product design
• 3 or more years of experience using 3D software such as Rhino
