Never Say Goodbye by Bon Jovi
Well friends, I hate to say it, but this is the last post for The 80’s Club. Not sure if forever, but for now. So, I thought I’d leave you with what is by far one of my favorite 80’s bands, Bon Jovi. The video is fantastic, if not a mite frightening. I mean, big hair I remember, just not quite that big. And of all of the 80’s fashions that seem to be making their way back into our stores, man leggins need not be one of them.
Thanks so much for reading here, for remembering with me, for commenting, and for making this a fun experience. All the best to you.

Gotta Love Europe

Jon Bon Jovi and the Ozone
Apparently, Jon Bon Jovi is to blame for the hole in the ozone layer.
From Sound Generator:
It’s because I feel guilty about the huge hole in the ozone layer my haircuts created. It’s my responsibility to right the wrongs of the Eighties.
That’s okay, Jon, it was worth it for all of us to have been a witness to that beautiful mane of yours. Plus, I think Europe had something to contribute there as well.
Check out this article to find out ways Jon’s helping the planet and its residents.

Bon Jovi and Sambora Action Figures
You think I’m joking, don’t you?
From azcentral.com:
Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora will soon have mini versions of themselves from Tempe-based McFarlane Toys.
Crazy, aye? Apparently, they aren’t the first musical figures from McFarlane Toys, but I still think it’s a bit odd. Go ahead and add them to your holiday wish list, for 2007. They’re not due out until July of next year. I’ll try to get a photo out here when they’re released.
I did love this album, though. Especially the record that my mom bought for my sister and me (how do you expect sisters to share an album?) that had the picture of Jon Bon Jovi on one side, and the whole band on the other. Yes, the photos ON THE RECORD. Too cool. I think we spent more time looking at the record than we did listening to it. Hmmmm….might have to search her house for that one.

Hair Bands
Hair bands in the 80s came in all varieties. You could find plain hair elastics and elaborate fabric & floof concoctions, and everything inbetween. Hair Bands also refers to the music genre Glam metal. I don’t think we called it “glam metal” back then, but that’s the label I found attached to the groups which came to mind as I was doing a bit of research for this post (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe, Guns N Roses, Twisted Sister, Pantera, Ratt, among others). Learn something new every day!
Long hair, wild hair, hair everywhere! What I remember about the Hair Bands was that the musicians were fond of putting enough energy into their performances to cause their hair to whip about. Off-stage their lush locks were romance-novel-cover worthy. Rebels sending out their siren call across the radio waves and on MTV. It being Friday, and everyone being ready for the weekend, it might be fun to see which 80s Hair Band you are! My top score was Bon Jovi. A great band, even today.
