John Fugelsang officially joins the Current primetime lineup

spacer After months of flirtation, political commentator and comedian John Fugelsang is making it official and joining the Current primetime lineup next week.

Tune in Friday October 5th at 6E/3P (with a re-airing at 9E/6P) for the debut of John’s own show featuring a uniquely comedic take on the top news stories and events of the week.

"We at Current are eager to bring John’s unique perspective on politics and the world around him to primetime," said Current TV Chairman and former Vice President Al Gore. "He’s been a part of the Current family for a while now and we see just how much his voice resonates with our audience. His new show will nicely complement our growing lineup."

We've rounded up Fugelsang’s greatest moments on Current TV as we look forward to more later this year!

Fugelsang has been a frequent guest host for "The War Room," "Viewpoint" and "Talking Liberally." He will bring his unique perspective to the network to bridge the gap between politics and religion.

"I view Jesus much the way I view Elvis," Fugelsang said. "I love the guy, but some of the fan clubs terrify me. I want to do with the religious right what Eliot Spitzer is doing with Wall Street. I want to take the Bible back from the creeps."

    • It is about time we had someone so knowledgeable about religion, as well as all other current issues! He is like a walking encyclopedia!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Current, for bringing him, as well as Stephanie and all the others to us! Just please keep their schedule straight so we don't miss anything! Thank you to Boe Devi for your thoughts. We do so desperately need someone to speak up for the suffering of innocent animals on this earth. It is just heartbreaking and those of us who try to help all we can are overwhelmed and have every day of our lives saddened when signing petitions, writing letters, etc. that just shouldn't have to be done. Why is all this cruelty allowed? I thought we had laws against it! I'm so frustrated! WWJD, John? Please help if you can!
