About Me
DANIEL RADOSH is a writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, a freelance journalist and the author of the book Rapture Ready! Adventures in the Parallel Universe of Christian Pop Culture.
Radosh first had the improbable experience of getting paid for writing as a teenager in the 1980s, contributing to the sort of publications that were handed out to other teenagers in their homeroom classes. He studied with Frank McCourt at Stuyvesant High School and in 1991 graduated from Oberlin College, where he founded and edited an satirical alternative newspaper.
After college, Radosh became a staff writer and editor at Spy magazine and a columnist for the New York Press, where his Eight Days column was voted readers' favorite three years running. As a freelance journalist over the next fifteen years he contributed to more publications than most people have read, including The New Yorker, Esquire, Playboy, GQ and The New York Times. During this time Radosh was also involved in several pioneering Internet ventures, including a pre-web community called The Transom and the early web magazines Word, Suck and Stim. In 1996 he created one of the first online humor sites to get mainstream attention, a parody of Slate magazine called Stale. Four years later he joined the staff Modern Humorist, a short-lived site premised on the idea that what people really wanted in web humor was sophistication and dry, understated wit.
From 2002 to 2009, Radosh was a contributing editor at The Week, one of the most successful new magazines of the 21st century. His first book, Rapture Ready!, was based on a year of reporting from around the country and was published by Scribner in 2008. He joined The Daily Show in 2009 and currently lives in Brooklyn, obviously.
