I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a Linux guru. In fact, prior to starting my current job I had never used a Linux system on a regular basis. I knew just enough to install the system and some software, all while looking for tutorials and writing the most basic scripts I could to automate things that were outside of my understanding.

Linux From Scratch is a project that can change that for many people who fancy themselves as upcoming system administrators or developers. It provides step-by-step instructions for building your own customized Linux system from source.
