Rotund World
Fabrizio Spagnolo

If the world were a beach different nations would inhabit it in their own styles.

The French family would feel the weight of their history and culture, they’d need to be seen to look good, to be a perfect unit. Even when almost naked they’d be the best dressed.

The British would burn.

The Americans would always have oodles of ice and junky mountains of coolers. They’d sprawl in relaxation.

The Italians would commit to their pleasure wholeheartedly, gleaming with sculptural permanence, with the simple joys of good food and warm skin.

These people on this beach are the Surrealists. They swim through the sand, ignore the conventions of gravity, and they are in all of us.
