Americans Spend $422 Billion Per Year On Sports

Here’s an infographic on the Business of Sports. What surprised me most about this information is the low profit margins in the 4 major sports. Most revenue gets eaten up by expenses. Every league but the NFL has less than a 10% profit margin. The NBA is the worst of the bunch. Which means it’s the poorest run business of the 4 major sports. Which doesn’t really surprise me. David Stern has been terrible for the league over the last decade.

Another thing that I think this infographic overlooks is the portion of this $422 billion that gets spent on gambling in sports. I’m willing to bet it’s close to 50%. Look at that one gigantic “red” state in the middle of the USA map.

The last not so surprising thing I see in this infographic is the fact that hockey generates almost as much revenue and profit as basketball despite the fact that basketball is less regional. Hockey is definitely a more regional sport (northerners) but has managed to gain passionate fans wherever it goes, even in the south.

You’re Guide To March Madness Brackets

This is a handy guide for filling out your NCAA March Madness brackets and increases your percentages of winning the office bracket. It goes over various strategies for improving your odds and giving you that slight advantage you need over your co-workers. For example, you never want to pick against a number 1 seed against a number 16 seed. However, in the first round, number 12 seeds are notorious for pulling upsets, so if you see a hot team at #12, it might be worth the risk.

The fans of every city will make claim to this throne, but each year several publications try to make it official. Here’s a ranking that says that Dallas Ft. Worth has the best sports fans. Not sure that we agree, but oh well. Subjective is as subjective goes.

I’m not sure throwing water balloons can be considered a sport or not, but I guess if people still think soccer is a sport this might as well be called one too. The video above features Christian Student Fellowship setting the largest water balloon fight of all time!

If this doesn’t make you want to grab some latex and make some people wet, I don’t know what will!

A Reason To Hate Peyton Hillis

Madden 2012 cover-boy Peyton Hillis sure has been in the news lately with the recent release of the popular NFL video game. Most people have complained, and rightfully so, that he’s vastly overrated in the game. Some harsh gamers have even went as far to say they now hate the Browns running back.

While I would never hate someone over a video game, I too found myself hating Peyton Hillis recently. Not because he is programmed to perform like Jim Brown in Madden 2012, but because he acts like Chuck Norris in this super gay video posted above.

If you don’t hate him already, just watch the video and you soon will.

Gay Tennis Players Kiss After U.S. Open Match

Grigor Dimitrov and Gael Monfils played each other in the U.S. Open the other day, but the sparks didn’t start to fly until after the match. I have no idea who won the game, nor do I care. The only noteworthy thing that happened was captured in the video clip above.

The U.S. Open has always been known for good tennis, but thanks to these two gay players they can now be known for making homosexual love connections. I’m happy for the two and wish them nothing but a long and healthy relationship.

Is the NBA Ready for White Chocolate?

Check out this clip of top 5 NBA prospect Mitch McGary at the Elite 24. They call him White Chocolate because he’s typically the only white guy on the court, but that’s definitely not why he’s famous. He has the power and athleticism to be a Caucasian Shaquille O’Neal. Before you call me crazy, just watch the video.

McGary completely shatters the glass with a monster dunk and if had it his way he would have never left the court. This guy has heart and will be a star in the NBA someday. Bank on it!

California Wins Little League World Series Over Japan

Once again America has proved to be the most athletically gifted country in the entire world. We own at every single sport we care about and other countries don’t stand a chance when it comes to competing against us. Take the Little League World Series for example. Japan put together a team of the best 11-13-year old baseball players that their country had to offer.

The United States of America just puts together a team with the best California has to offer and they end up beating Japan’s baby dream team. Once again the Little League World Series returns to its rightful owner. USA, USA, USA!!!

LeBron James Owned By a Teenager

This may not be the most embarrassing moment of LeBron James’ life. Heck, it’s probably not even his most embarrassing moment of the year! Let’s face it, the guy has a true talent for humiliating himself. However, this is definitely one of those humiliating moments.

LeBron goes one-on-one with a tiny little teenager and gets OWNED. I’m nearly 100% sure that the kid got lucky and that LeBron probably wasn’t trying very hard, but this would be an embarrassing moment for ANY professional basketball player, especially the self-proclaimed “King.” If he wasn’t so damn arrogant I would probably start feeling bad for the guy by now.
