Designed for children ages four to seven and their adult friends, Arty Facts takes place every Sunday, meeting in the Museum's Rubin Lobby at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Explore the galleries, enjoy a family activity, and make your own art in this ninety-minute class, each one a variation on a monthly theme. Please do not bring siblings older than seven or younger than four. Materials fee (for up to four participants): $10; $5 for Gallery/Studio Families and for Museum Members at the Family level; FREE to Museum Members at the Contributor level and above.

A year in Arty Facts:

October: "Imagine, Create"
The Museum’s collections will inspire you to imagine and create new worlds while exploring color and other elements of art.

November: "Sparkle, Shimmer, Reflect, and Shine: Art and Light"
Learn how artists from Claude Monet to Jean-Michel Othoniel have played with light to create specific effects, and create brilliant, luminous artwork of your own.

December: "Zoo in the Museum"
Animals have inspired artists all over the world. Let the creatures who live in the Museum inspire the artist in you. This month will highlight the Arts of Asia installation before it closes for a yearlong reinstallation.
Note: Arty Facts will not be held December 23 or 30.

January: "Material and Embellishments"
What kinds of things is art made of? Go beyond canvas and paint in this month of fun, funky, and unusual materials.

February: "Art Now!"
Learn how today's artists create, explore the cultures and techniques that influence them, and make your own innovative art.

March: "Go Figure!"
Observe gesture and expression in works ranging from ancient Egyptian figures to sketched portraits in the exhibition Fine Lines: American Drawings from the Brooklyn Museum.
Note: Arty Facts will not be held March 31.

April: "Building Blocks"
How do artists construct their art? Learn from some constructive examples: sculptures created from found objects, quilts stitched together from fabric and thread, and drawings made from a simple line.

May: "Splash of Color"
John Singer Sargent’s watercolors, the Museum’s collection of landscapes, and nature will inspire families to discover the power and beauty of water.
Note: Arty Facts will not be held May 26.
