The reviews are coming in for The Field Guide to Fucking and I’m really excited to have had two of the world’s top sexperts give their comment on the book.
Robert Page
Robert Page is a member of AASECT, SSSS, WAS and BASE. Creator and Producer of the award winning Lovers’ Guide, the world’s number one brand for sex and relationships. He says, “Emily Dubberley is a refreshing and thorough coach, taking students by the hand and various other parts of their anatomy in this most crucial area of human interaction. The Field Guide to F***ing is a valuable new take on the subject, giving life lessons in life-making (if you’re not careful about it). So many treatises of this kind are dreary and dull but this has a wit and sparkle to keep the reader, ahem – eager student, happily at his of her education. It reminds one of the Survivor’s Guide series, actually brimming with facts and unusual ‘I never knew that’s', but a rollicking fun read too, to keep you riveted.”
Susan Quilliam
Susan Quilliam has been a relationship counsellor for over 30 years and is co-author of The Joy of Sex, published by Octopus. She says, “In these liberated times, we students of the wonderful subject of Sex might think we know it all. But if we want to gain true mastery of our subject we will want to not only hone our practical skills, but also need be totally au fait with the underpinning of theory – to know about the latest research, explore new understandings, and benefit from the plethora of studies that have been done on the topic in recent years. It can seem a daunting task – but sexpert Emily Dubberley has made that task easy and enjoyable. In her new book The Field Guide to F*cking, she uses the ‘study guide’ model to pack in the facts, expose the fictions and tell us absolutely everything we need to know about our special topic. Every page contains not only full coverage of the basics, but a whole heap of little-known facts, new insights and inspirational suggestions. And all this done it in such a humorous way that one is left smiling while all the time learning. Thought you’d seen it all with sex manuals? Well, now you have!”
I feel really honoured and privileged to have had such great sexual pioneers say such lovely things about my book. Get your copy here .

I recently helped organise Brighton Science Festival 2012, which ran throughout February and into early March. Shows included:
The Science of Magic
Award-winning magician, Leon Simmonds, joined forces with some of the UK’s top mentalists, magicians and cabaret stars to explain the science of magic, teaching children and adults alike a few new tricks. A magical event that saw the Blind Tiger crammed to the gills.
The Chewy, Gummy Physics Funfair
Food, but not as you know it. People breathed in toffee apples and inhaled Victoria sponge cake; miracle berries bemused the taste-buds making sour taste sweet; ice cream appeared miraculously from liquid nitrogen courtesy of Due South; vegetables were turned into mythical creations. Another sold out show at the Blind Tiger.
Monkey Butlers and Voices of the Dead
Science historian and therematrix Sarah Angliss and neo-Victorian hip-hop raconteur Professor Elemental invited the audience into a world of Edison phonographs, ventriloquist’s dummies, badgermingos, flying machines and other marvels.

Make It!
People turned towels into dinosaurs. , created fabric from plastic bags with Sew Retro, made Fibonacci-inspired quilts with Quilty Pleasures and ate the periodic table as created by Brighton Belles WI. Gold proved to be the most popular element in the battle of the elements.
Festival of the Spoken Nerd
Stand-up mathematician Matt Parker, musical comedian Helen Arney and experiments guy Steve Mould delved deep into the mathematical wonders of the universe, asking Are You Picurious? Googols, wankel engines and Rubik’s Cubes – the finest comedy moments were extracted from mathematics with the help of a ukelele, a packet of marshmallows and a powerpoint presentation you actually wanted to watch.
There will shortly be videos available online – visit the Brighton Science Festival website for the latest news – and info about Brighton Science Festical 2013, of course. You can also keep up to date with all the latest news by following @brightonscience on Twitter.

My latest book, The Field Guide to Fucking is now delivered to the publisher, edited and in the process of being produced. It’s released on June 1st. Should the book appeal, I’d love it if you could pre-order a copy to help me get a good sales ranking – all pre-orders count towards my first week’s sales. I’m now working on another book, of which more news nearer the publication date.
