For Heavy Warmup Volume 14, I enlisted my friend Dimitry Mak, from right here in New York City. Tons of fun surprises on this one, tracklist after the jump.

Well a very heavy burtation on this warmup mix, as one of my favorite Californians, Morse Code throws down. This one was recorded live in NYC at Sutra in 2009. If you’re unfamiliar with Heavy Warmup, here’s the mission statement. If you’re unfamiliar with Morse Code, kill yoself. – Dayres Dairison
DJ mOma – Heavy Warm Vol 12
DJ mOma is one of our closest Rub affiliates, and a hell of a DJ. Whether you saw him win the Red Bull Threestyle competition two years ago or play with us at The Rub NYE 2012 party, you know how he gets down. The Heavy Warmup series is all about finesse, and Mo’s set does not disappoint.

Heavy Warmup 11: Patski Love (Juicy) – Live at The Do-Over Oslo (all DO set), 8-13-11 by Juicy: C. Stallion & P. Love on Mixcloud
“This set was recorded live from The Do-Over Oslo at Fugazi on August 13th this summer and I was on after my Juicy-partner Chris Stallion set off. WIth a party like The Do-Over where all the best DJ’s in the world have played I figured I had to DO something different so I played a set with DO in all songs (titles). I was playing before Do-Over boss Chris Haycock, The Rub’s incomparable Cosmo Baker and last but not least Kingdom, so I wanted the set to build from Rap and R&B, through Soul and Disco up to Club levelz. Enjoy!”

Oh man, this is a treat. Club vet DJ Rok One went all out for the Heavy Warmup series, bringing the slow jams, disco and 80s singalongs, forgotten 90s rap gems (Ten Thieves? Grav? wow) and even a Nine Inch Nails record. Catch Rok making it hot at The Rub this Saturday, and do yourself a favor and ask to subscribe to his email blast (rokone@gmail.com), which is always hilariously on point.

Sam French just sent over this opener mix, a perfect complement to the Heavy Warmup series with lots of 70s and 80s rock and swagged-out glamorous shit. Lots of surprises, no tracklist, warming it up like Kane.
HEAVY WARMUP 8 by thatdjbennyb
Benny B (NY) used to open up for me at Savalas when he was first starting out, like 6 years ago. I remember because he was playing vinyl and at that point I was already messing with CDJs and then Serato. He’s become a really solid party DJ, and I’ve played with him a bunch of times in Brooklyn at his parties. It was at Scott Melker & Puja’s party that the lightbulb above my head lit up – this dude is perfect for Heavy Warmup. Here he is, live at Huckleberry Bar in BK, 11 – 12. This one is so heavy! Scott Melker has been DJing in clubs all over New York City since cavemen rode dinosaurs, and his expertise shines through on Heavy Warmup Vol 7. Perfect for summer in the city.

Heavy Warmup Vol 5: DJ 7L
I’ve always been a fan of 7L’s beats, which I put right up there with DJ Premier and the Alchemist. His Bladerunners edit project is really dope too. I met him in person a couple of years ago at SXSW and I tried not to geek out too hard on him; since then we’ve played together a bunch of times both on his turf in Boston and at The Rub in Brooklyn. He’s a serious veteran DJ and does all kinds of gigs. This heavy warmup set was recorded at a hotel gig a couple of months ago, and I’ve probably listened to it 100 times since he gave it to me. Hope yall enjoy! And be sure to check him out at www.dj7l.com
