What is a Classic Print?

Chicago Uncommon Classic Prints are expertly printed on professional grade photographic paper and coated with a beautifully protective lustre finish by our carefully selected professional photo lab. Unless requested otherwise, classic prints are mounted for added durability. Custom sizes are available. ↑

What is a Gallery Canvas?

A Chicago Uncommon Gallery Canvas is created when your selected image is meticulously printed onto beautifully textured fine art canvas. The image is carefully wrapped around a handcrafted 1-1/2" wooden stretcher bar and protected from scuffs, scratches and UV damage by a luxurious semi-gloss laminate overcoat. Framing paper covers up the back of the bars, and metal hangers and bumpers are applied to the corners. Chicago Uncommon Gallery Canvases arrive ready to hang on your awaiting wall. Additional sizes are available upon special request. ↑

What is a "digital mat"?

A digital mat is best described by example: A classic print without a digital mat will have no white border. A classic print with a digital mat will have a white border created digitally around the image, making traditional matting unnecessary. For example, if you order an 11x14" print the paper will still be 11x14", but the actual image will be visibly smaller. This also applies to all other available sizes. ↑

Can I order by mail or phone?

Yes. Please complete your order using our online shopping cart and select "Pay via Personal Check or Money Order" then follow the instructions. ↑

Can I order a print in a size not listed?

Absolutely. Custom print sizes are usually priced at the next largest available size. For example, 4x6 prints are the same price as 5x7 prints and a 15x15 square image would cost the same as a 16x20 print. Send an email with information on the size you would like and we'll get back to you with pricing information. ↑

What is the cost of shipping?

There is a $10 charge for USPS Priority Mail shipping; other options are available. ↑

Can I pick up my order?

No. Prints are only available for purchase with mail delivery. There are no exceptions. ↑

How long will it take to receive my order?

Usually Classic Prints are shipped within 1 week, Signature Mounts within 2-3 weeks and Gallery Canvas 1-2 weeks from the day payment is received, unless stated otherwise. By default, deliveries are made via US Priority Mail which should arrive between 2-3 business days from shipment. Alternative shipping methods are available upon request. ↑

Do you take commissioned assignments?

Yes. Please contact us directly by providing the details of your request. We will respond to your request within 24 hours with information regarding fees and availability. ↑

Do you have a historical photo of "x" or where can I find such a photo?

chicagouncommon.com is the personal Chicago photography portfolio of Dawn Mikulich. Only photos taken by Dawn are available for purchase from this site. As this is not an archive of historical photos or of Chicago photographs in general, we do not have access to or know where you can find particular photos of historic Chicagoland.

We suggest you contact the Chicago Historical Society (Research & Collections) or the Chicago Cultural Center for such works. ↑
