Google getting into the cellular market would be very good for consumers. I think of Google as being more of a political agenda than a company -- making money is just something they do on the side. Look at what Google did to influence the wireless spectrum auction.
Google has the financial backbone to do what T-Mobile can't do on its own. I would like to see Google do to the wireless industry to what they're doing to the broadband market in Kansas City. Break down the barriers of innovation and force companies to be more consumer friendly. | permalink · 2012-11-14 01:12:48 · Print · · |

All spectrum sales need to have a condition that if there is no build plan filed within 30 days of purchase for approved use of that spectrum within, say, a 24-month time frame, the owner loses the license to the spectrum with no monetary compensation.
Basically anything to keep companies from squatting on spectrum just to keep the competitors out and/or the prices artificially inflated and prohibitive for new competition. | permalink · 2012-11-13 16:47:43 · · |

Umm, VZ is planning to sell licenses for use of the spectrum. | permalink · 2012-11-13 21:13:07 · · |

If the FCC lets this sale happen they are completely useless and might as well just let these companies do whatever they want. | permalink · 2012-11-13 22:25:06 · · |

| Re: FCC should force them to return the spectrum. Yes, I've seen that they bought the A, B and C blocks and only used the upper C. Held on to the others so that no one else could use it. Now they're so kind as to sell the A and B to the highest bidder since their buildout timeframe is expiring quickly | permalink · 2012-11-14 00:11:23 · · |

Sincerely, Me But Apple looking to screw over Google purchases it instead. | This is good news For a while, it was looking like Verizon was going to absolutely dominate over AT&T, and be able to corner the market on LTE. Now this, combined with AT&T buying up a ton of SMH from other companies means they will be in similar positions spectrum wise.
I guess someone at Verizon finally realized that the lower and upper blocks can't be used by the same devices... ooops. Although AT&T doesn't currently support Lower A, it would be easy to add to future phones, and plays nice with their Lower B and C deployments. | permalink · 2012-11-13 18:50:03 · Print · · |

SteelerRaw @timet.com | This seems to happen quite a bit here... But 700MHz spectrum is NOT AWS spectrum. AWS spectrum is 1710-1755 uplink and 2110-2155 downlink. | |
