The McCormack has been selected for a competetive grant that will extend the school day for the 2012-2013 school year.
Grade 5 students at the Dever Elementary School are guaranteed admission to McCormack grade 6 if they choose to attend.
School Highlights:
- Panther P.R.I.D.E. : Focus on character development and positive school spirit
- Student success: one-third of our graduates tested out of Algebra 1 for grade 9, and more than 10% of last year’s 6th graders currently attend an exam school
- Inclusion teams with two teachers in English and math and paraprofessional support in science and social studies to mainstream students with special needs
- Faculty provides coursework and internships for the Boston Teacher Residency program
- School-based counseling and student support services
- Advanced Work Class for eligible students in grade 6
- Outstanding business partnership with Sovereign Bank
- A great music program: one in five McCormack students plays a musical instrument, and the band and string instruments meet every day for lessons and rehearsals
- Required after school study hall for students in grades 7 and 8 with missing homework
- After school programs with Citizen Schools, Tenacity, and additional school programming
- Thompson Island Outward Bound Choices program featuring in-school initiatives and a week-long trip to the island each spring.
