A morning visit to the wonderful Maeght Foundation museum yesterday was a happy return to a place I have not been to for 15 years. It is in a wonderful location near St Paul-de-Vence, a marvellous rural setting with wonderful light and inspired installation of the remarkable sculpture collection in the gardens. This is an absolutely obligatory visit for anyone spending even a short time in and around Nice.
And yesterday afternoon I returned to the little village I lived in for a year when I first came to live in France in 1994. This is St Jean-Cap-Ferrat. It was a somewhat gloomy cloudy evening but a Ricard in my regular bar, the Bar du Port, brought back great memories of the hot summers here on the Cรดte d'Azur. It was good to be back even for just a short half hour or so.
