Bay Blogger Thursday

spacer It's Thursday yet again, the day before the day before you get to fart around like a normal human being. With that in mind, we present the top blog dog in the Bay Area, Dave Pell. Dave has been producing content for internet consumption since way back in the nineties - the nineties people! Back then it was pioneers like Mr. Pell and Craig Newmark delivering fresh content through email distribution lists, Davenetics and Craigslist, respectively. Now email, the original 'killer-app' of the web, is awash with spam and the discerning users have opted for SFist's favorite format, blogs.

After the 2000 election, Dave got a lot more focused on politics and created Electablog. It was through Electablog, chosen as the top political blog by Forbes magazine, that Dave managed to score his credentials to the Democratic National Convention this year - where he drew the ire of traditional media and ended up sitting in the nosebleed section. Still, he did a great job covering the event from the inside, offering the behind-the-scenes perspective that publicists and stage managers didn't want you to see.

His newsletter on web and tech, Davenetics, has been reborn as a blog, consuming his Popcultablog in the process - though you can still subscribe to updates via email. Davenetics is consistently placed in Technorati's top ten, currently ranked at number four. As you can see, Dave Pell is an incredibly busy, talented guy. And like many, many bloggers, Dave is a cat person.
