The Mohamed Khalifa Family Charity Fund (MKFCF) has been established as a waqf (endowment) in memory of Mohamed Khalifa, who passed away on July 1, 2012. He was a loving husband, a kind father, a gentle teacher and a wonderful, warmhearted man who touched all those he met during his life. He was a man of few words, so when he spoke, you certainly paid attention and listened. He lived his life with a smiling face, quiet patience and strong faith. He strove to treat everyone kindly and with respect, and to help any one out in their time of need.

These are the values he lived by, and the ones he shared with his family and friends. It is with these values, that we, the Khalifa Family, have partnered with Islamic Relief USA and established the Mohamed Khalifa Family Charity Fund in his memory. We hope to follow his example, and help those in need. Through this fund, we aim to help different causes and projects, focusing on one cause at any given time.

Our first cause we have selected is a hospital in Egypt (Mohamed’s home country). Here’s some more information on the goals of this cause and how you can help.

MEETING THE HEALTH NEEDS OF THE RURAL POOR

Kafr al-Sheikh is an area in northern Egypt. It has 10 districts, 10 cities, and is one of the poorest regions in Egypt with a total of 180,000 inhabitants. The average household income in the region is less than $1 a day.

In Kafr al-Sheikh, health conditions have deteriorated significantly and the decline in health services is primarily a result of a large shortage of doctors in all specialties. There are also very few health units in the region: the nearest hospital is located in Metobas District and it contains insufficient—and in many cases, unusable—medical equipment.

Your charitable donations will help to better equip the existing central hospital in Metobas District and furnish it with a dental clinic, a pediatric clinic, a delivery and neo-natal clinic, an orthopedic clinic, a laboratory, infant incubators, and more. The goal of the project is to reduce the severity of illnesses among the local population by improving access to low-cost healthcare and quality health services.

    Fund Information

Proceeds go to Egypt Humanitarian Fund

One in five Egyptians is poor, and the gap between rich and poor is extremely wide, education is difficult to attain and jobs are scarce. Problems of poverty and unemployment in Egypt have been chronic, but political unrest in early 2011 added to these burdens from many families. Islamic Relief started working in Egypt in 2001. This fund has helped Islamic Relief provide therapy for children with disabilities, support food distributions, vocational training, family sponsorships, and orphan sponsorships.
