Some Beers for the Holiday

Some beer suggestions for the Holiday weekend.1 These are all good and creative beers from small breweries.

Founders Cerise is a beer brewed with tart Michigan cherries. It's so different from a beer, that even non-beer drinkers may like it. It's close to a Lambic but less fruity.

Victory Saison du Buff is for people that like to experiment. It's a collaboration beer from Dogfish Head, Stone and Victory with Sage, Rosemary, Parsley and Thyme. If I could afford 5 gallons if this stuff, I would have soaked my turkey in it.2

Mystic Brewing Descendant Dark Ale is different from most beers. Mystic Brewing specializes in specialty yeast. While other breweries are cranking up the hops until the beer pours out like shellac, Mystic beers tasting complex and varied in unique and pleasant ways.

Oaked Arrogant Bastard is good ol' Arrogant Bastard but aged in oak barrels. The oak flavor is subtle on the finish and enjoyable for someone that like scotch or cabernets but doesn't like eating old campfires. It's strong in flavor and represents reason and care in putting wood into beer.3

Founders Backwoods Bastard is one of my favorite beers. It's like an amazing beer and a perfect bourbon got it on in the closet at the holiday party. This beer tastes like what the closet would smell like... in a good way.

Great Divide Hercules is a very hoppy IPA but drinkable. It tastes like beer, not like hop resin.

  1. I'm an egocentric American. But come on, doesn't every country have a holiday that only exists to drink good beer and eat good food with family and friends? ↩

  2. That is not a euphemism, although, I can imagine working it into a conversation. ↩

  3. Actually, this is a euphemism. ↩

Foword is a news reader with filters and a good deal of style. Perhaps it has too much style and not enough filter. Foword pulls news items from a few non-cusomizeable sources and lets the user group and filter the news by keywords. Like Apple stuff? Create an Apple news ...
