But it’s really too funny not to share. And full of interesting facts about minerals!

Ever since I went to the launch party for Seedwell’s YouTube funded ‘channel’, American Hipster, I have been pretty smitten by their ‘Presents’ series. The intro promises ‘video portraits of American trendsetters’ and the episodes deliver. The show has already toured through many of America’s cities highlighting cool, local artisanal craftmanship. Frankly, I’m surprised that I haven’t written about this until just now. I highly recommend the series and sincerely hope that YouTube didn’t pull their funding.

The episode featured above highlights Marian Built, a furniture-maker from Seattle who creates all of his pieces from rusty reclaimed materials.

Red Bull isn’t the kind of brand to half-ass things. They’ve got a lock on their particular style and voice, and when they decide to do something, they go big.

So when Red Bull decides to do a Rube Golberg Machine partially powered by their stable of sponsored athletes, (and they have some experience in this area) you can imagine the results. (Or you can just click play and not have to imagine, but where’s the fun in that? Give it 30 seconds of imagination first. I guarantee it’ll impress you.)

I don’t know what I love more, that ThinkGeek released a kit to make lightsaber popsicles or that they enlisted Chad Vader to promote them. For those of you who are not familiar, Chad Vader is a web series created by Matt Sloan and Aaron Yonda in 2006. It’s one of the first instances where an original online web series gained a massive following proving that serialized success on YouTube can exist. It also helped further the not so untrue theory that anything Star Wars related has the potential to be huge online. If you haven’t seen the series, I’d highly recommend digging deep into the YouTube vaults and giving Chad Vader and his disappointing life as a dayshift manager a watch.

“The Simpsons” remind you that it’s votin’ time!

Voting isn’t just deciding between two dudes in suits. Here in California, there’s a proposition on the ballot that would require genetically modified food products to say on their labels that they’re GMO. Voting, at least in California’s case, is literally about WHAT WE PUT IN OUR BODIES.

Voting is real. Voting is important, and that’s why you keep hearing about it, and maybe you’re sick of it. But here’s the thing: It’s fun. It is! You pull a lever or push a button or stamp a ticket and each time you do it, that’s you, saying to your city and state and country, this is what I think. And then you get a sticker!

No one will judge you for voting for a judge because they have a funny name. But people will judge you for not voting. So go out and do it. Seriously. Because I guarantee whatever happens, it’ll be easier for you than it will be for Homer Simpson.

So last night, I was out with friends and the mystery and legend that is Bill Murray came up. None to my surprise, this man is pretty much universally loved. And rightfully so! I can’t think of a movie he has been in that I hated (though there are a few that were meh and I like to forget exist). Off the top of my head, there are a about a half dozen movies he’s in that I love and are among my favorites. So keep doing what you are doing Bill and we will continue to pay tribute.
