Checking In
Michael Blowhard writes:
Dear Blowhards --
Apologies for vanishing without explanation. A family emergency needed immediate attention: My wife's brother, who had struggled with Parkinson's Disease for a couple of decades, entered a period of steep decline, and then died. He was an ornery, smart, and funny guy who fought what he knew would be a losing battle with a lot of gallantry and class. So, for the past week, there has been much of real life to attend to. The sadness will linger for a long time, of course. Now that the the sense of crisis is relenting, though, I'll soon be easing back into blogging. Thanks for everyone's patience.
Best,
Michael

Michael,
That's a rough one. My sympathies to you and your wife, and hopes that you both will make your peace with the loss soon, but no sooner than is necessary for your own healing.

Michael, please extend condolences to that fine lady known hereabouts as "The Wife" as well as to her mom and the rest of the family.
I will try my best to hold the fort till you're back full-time.

You and those you care for seem in recent years to have been facing many difficulties, some of them ultimate. You have my condolences also, and you and your wife are in my thoughts.
Life trumps blogging every time. Take it easy, okay?

Michael,
Your wife's family is blessed to have a support guy like you.
"He was an ornery, smart, and funny guy who fought what he knew would be a losing battle with a lot of gallantry and class." I hope that's how I would deal if presented with Parkinson's or Altzheimers, or any progressive mental disability. With time, if you have any thoughts on this, please do share. If so, I have some too.
((hug))
