Open Access in PRX

Physical Review X (PRX) is an online-only, open access journal that is distributed without charge, and financed by article-processing charges (APCs) to the authors or to the authors' institutions. To defray editorial, composition, hosting, and archiving expenses, there is an APC of $1500 for a research article containing less that 20,000 words (or word equivalents). Research articles containing 20,000 or more words (or word equivalents) will incur additional APCs associated with increased composition expenses; $30 for every 1000-word (or word equivalent) increment over 20,000. Payment of APCs is necessary to maintain free access to PRX. Accepted manuscripts will not be forwarded to production until APCs are paid in full. PRX APCs are waived for authors from countries for which APS offers free online access to its subscription journals. This waiver may be requested by emailing payments@aps.org.

Articles in PRX are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License. Copyright is not transferred to APS for articles published in PRX.
