In a year filled with more fanboy-friendly releases than you could conjure up in your wildest of dreams, one film stood out from the pack for this writer. Not The Avengers. Not The Dark Knight Rises. Not Prometheus. That film would be Frankenweenie. Topping my nerdy list of most-anticipated titles for 2012, Tim Burton's adaptation of his live-action short from 25+ years ago immediately garnered my attention the second it was announced by Disney, particularly since it was not only going to be shot with stop-motion animation but would also be presented in black and white. Regardless of Burton's name being attached, this was certainly a risky move by Disney and whether it pays off or not remains to be seen. However, rest assured that Frankenweenie is a quality

Zombies are EVERYWHERE these days. Thanks to the Walking Dead and numerous other flicks and shows the undead are easily accessible. A unique entry into the world of the undead is getting to be a rare thing these days, but that’s exactly what The Revenant is.

Having been touring the film festival circuit for the last couple of years, the film got picked up by Lionsgate for distribution, releasing on DVD this week.
