Exchange credits are what you get for participating in exchanges. They are free and the more you participate the more you get.

When you sign up for redditgifts, you are given 1 credit. When you sign up for an exchange, it costs 1 credit. When you have completed everything required of an exchange, you will receive your credit back, as well as an additional credit for completing the exchange. If you were a rematch Santa, you will receive 1 bonus credit for the exchange. The number of credits you have indicates the number of simultaneous exchanges you can participate in.

We do this to try to ensure that people do not sign up for many exchanges just to receive gifts. Hopefully as more time goes on, the more effective this system will be.

Arbitrary Day Plus is designed to allow participants to know that they are matched with other redditors who have participated at least enough times to have the 3 credits needed to participate. There is no other difference.

There are three primary exchanges every year, Secret Santa in December, Arbitrary Day in June, and Halloween in October. Look for information to start popping up early December, May, and September respectively.

There are also many other exchanges throughout the year. If you mark your profile (redditgifts.com/prof...) and make sure the box beside “Receive upcoming exchange notifications?” is checked, you will get an email when they are announced.

We understand that life sometimes gets in the way of good intentions. Any time before you are matched you may cancel. Once matching is done, however,, you can not cancel your participation.

If you would like to cancel your participation before Matching Day, go to your Exchanges page (redditgifts.com/exch...) and click on the title of the exchange you would like to cancel participation for, and click the "cancel participation" link.

No, you opt-in to shipping internationally. **Please note that this is a preference, not a guarantee.**

If there are not enough people signed up in your country, you may get matched internationally, despite your preference. Likewise, if you opted-in to international shipping, you may be matched domestically.

On matching day, our system will randomly match you with another redditor in a completely random fashion and you are not matched to each other.
E.g. ilovecats may send to ilovedogs who may send to ihatecats who may send to I hatedogs who may send to ilovecats. It’s completely random.

You are not provided with information on your Santa, only your giftee.

No. Who you are matched with is who you are matched with. Please keep in mind that you chose to give a gift for the sake of gift giving only and your gift may enlighten someone else’s life.

Yes. Contacting your giftee is not required, but if you want to ask them something, on the Retrieve Match page (redditgifts.com/exch...), click on the exchange title, then click on “retrieve match” and there is a link below your giftee’s address which lets you send an anonymous message. When you send a message, your giftee will get an email letting them know, and you will get an email letting you know when they reply.

Your exchanges screen features a parcel icon that represents the gift you can expect. The date below indicates when the information was most recently retrieved by your Santa. This will change depending on how often your Santa looks at your info. The date indicates the latest date they looked at your info. When the present is shipped, the icon will turn green and the shipping information provided by your Santa will be to the right.

Tracking numbers are not required, but they are encouraged. Please also keep in mind that some people don’t check more than once.

Your giftee is counting on you and they are waiting. If you are late shipping, please send your giftee a PM and let them know that they have not been forgotten.

If you do ship late, redditgifts will send you reminder emails. If you are very late, your giftee may mark the gift as unreceived which will result in you being banned from redditgift exchanges. That’s not cool.

2. Click on the “confirm shipped” link
3. Enter the shipping details and you can either save the shipping information or save and add another package if you have shipped more than one gift.
Make sure you checked the “promised you shipped” chekbox!

Your exchange credit will be returned to you once your giftee posts their gift. If you go to your exchanges page (redditgifts.com/exch...), you will see the exchange icon in grayscale and "Please wait for your match to post the gift you sent" if all that remains is your giftee to post.

There will be a cutoff date by which all people who's giftees do not post the gift they received will receive their credit back.
