Coded By Hand!
No layout programs used to create this page!.
spacer Ok, I started this as a gag, but it has taken on a life of it's own. I have gotten several requests to explain what I mean by it and for permission for it to be used on other pages.

Very simply, "Coded by Hand" means that I did not use a program like Adobe PageMill, or Netscape's Composer, or even Macromedia's totally cool Dreamweaver to create my web pages.

"Hi, my name is Chino, and as the banner says, I am a freelance new media developer. I created the 'Coded By Hand' logo."

I do think that they are cool apps, although somewhat limiting. I use text editors like Notepad or Wordpad on the PC and Simpletext on the Macintosh to write my webpages.

I am not trying to prove a point, really, nor make a statement. But, I am proud of the fact that coding HTML (and now DHTML as well) from scratch is part of my skillset as a digital artisan. It is quickly becoming a lost art in today's world of WYSIWYG layout programs.

If you code HTML from scratch as well, you are welcomed to use the logo on your page. Who knows, maybe we can start a counter-revolution.! Here are a couple of ways you can incorporate the gif in your webpage:

Method #1
You can copy the GIF from this page and incorporate it into your own.. and if you wish, you can link back to this page for an explanation of the logo. The url of this page is "www.chino.com/codedbyhand.htm".

Method #2
You can copy and paste the following code into your page, this will access the gif from my server anytime your page is opened:
<A class="www.chino.com/codedbyhand.htm">
<IMG src="/img/spacer.gif">
