Lifetime offers up help for “Teen Trouble”

Lifetime in the U.S. has ordered eight episodes of Teen Trouble, a series hosted by teen behavior specialist Josh Shipp (pictured), to be produced by Ellen Rakieten Entertainment, a division of RelativityREAL.

The hour-long series is set to premiere on December 28 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.

Every episode sees Shipp embedding himself into the lives of at-risk teens before confronting the teens and their parents to identify the root of the problem. His methods include introducing the youth to current and former troubled teens, whose lives mirror theirs.

Those who are still troubled are a cautionary tale to the at-risk teen participant, while others who have overcome their problems and lead successful and happy lives serve as an aspirational example.

Shipp will put the at-risk teens in scenarios, such as overnight stays in jail, to experience what their future holds if they don’t make crucial changes. He also works with the parents to help them understand what is going on with their children.

A+E Networks will handle global sales for Teen Trouble.

For Ellen Rakieten Entertainment, Ellen Rakieten and Bryn Freedman will executive produce, and for Lifetime, Rob Sharenow, Gena McCarthy, Stephen H. Schwartz and Sandy Varo will executive produce.
