It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day, that often it’s hard to take a moment and look at what is going on around you. Yet it is important that we come up for air every so often… and we’re here to help. So lets take a moment to dust of those creative cobwebs, and take a look at the work that inspires us (and hopefully you too.) Enjoy!

Spectrum Portraits

Martyn from ART & GRAFT on Vimeo.

What is captivating about this piece is how the unique use of footage and 3D animation is used to tell a story. The entire animation is framed around Spectrums logo identity, which really helps tie the piece together. This shows how important the original branding is, and how it can resonate throughout a business’ identity. The tasteful sound design allows the viewer to feel immersed in the world our narrator brings us into. The sound design also enhances the tension that’s built up.

The main thing that makes this a successful piece is the attention to detail. No key frame is wasted and each triangle helps tell the story.

What ties this piece together is how it tells a story directly to the viewer, and the visuals compliment this idea. They help you imagine this by giving you on-screen hands, and showing things from a more human perspective. In the end, they want you to feel like a part of their world, and to see things the way they do. The way they represent social media platforms is great, you can instantly visualize the spread of ideas and experiences.

BROOKFIELD TFF2012 – ARTS & ENVIRONMENT – FINAL from Fresh Paint on Vimeo.

This final piece really shows how quickly a lot of information can be effectively communicated using 2D animation. The true success of this piece is the tone. Often it is hard to add personality to a brand, yet it is essential to give your brand a voice. The brilliant use of transition allows the audience to stay focused on the center of the screen, yet not become bored. The playful sound design and balanced tone of the VO really drives this piece forward. The logo animation bookmarking the piece shows how you can play with a word mark to communicate an idea, and still maintain branding.

That’s it for now. If you missed outlast month check it out here. Stay tuned for next month.
