Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is Indiana University’s governing board, its legal owner, and final authority. The board holds the university’s financial, physical, and human assets and operations in trust for future generations. Its membership, terms of office, responsibilities, powers and electoral procedures are governed by the Indiana Code and outlined in detail at the Board of Trustees website.

The board meets six times a year at rotating locations at each IU campus. Meetings are open to the public. The schedule for each meeting is usually posted two to three weeks in advance, with the agenda appearing online approximately five to 10 days before each meeting. More information on the board’s activities is available through the IU News Room.
