Introduction of Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust

Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust is a national, independent, non-parochial academic institution for projecting the Ideology of Pakistan as enunciated by our Founding Fathers, Allama Mohammad Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. It was established in 1992 by Punjab’s then Chief Minister Ghulam Haider Wyne along with other veterans of Pakistan Movement.

It is being run successfully under the Chairmanship of Mr. Majid Nizami, who is a veteran leader of the great Pakistan Movement and a renowned leading front-rank journalist of Pakistan. Under his dynamic guidance and able supervision the Trust has achieved its objectives considerably as outlined in its Act.

It is a fully autonomous institution, administered by a 13 member Board of Governors, with a Vice-Chairman and a Secretary. It also has a General Council of 25 members in addition to an Advisory Council consisting of 45 members. All these bodies hold periodical meetings after every six months.

Aims and Objectives:

• The aims and objectives of the Trust as laid down in its Article of Memorandum are as follows:
• To propagate and project the Ideology of Pakistan;
• To preserve the spirit and memory of the Pakistan Movement;
• To trace, record and honour the contributions and sacrifices made for the establishment of Pakistan;
• To contribute to the endeavours to establish the promised social order in Pakistan based on Islam;
• To promote national unity and to fight against all forms of disunity and exploitation; .
• To work as a national, autonomous, ideological and democratic body inter alia for the following objectives and purposes:-

1. To undertake, patronize, establish and organize Cells, Wings, Committees and Institutions so as to fulfill the objectives of the Trust.
2. To cooperate with such persons and organizations which believe in and work for the Ideology of Pakistan.
3. To set up Research Cells and conduct research work about Allama Mohammad Iqbal, Quaid-i-Azam and other prominent Muslim leaders of Pakistan Movement;
4. To collect and preserve the record of the politically motivated killings, looting and arson in the sub-continent especially between 1940 and 1947 and the losses suffered by the Muslims in such disturbances;
5. To prepare an authentic record of the migration consequent to the creation of Pakistan;
6. To compile a comprehensive and authentic history of the Indo-Pakistan Muslims with particular reference to their rise, fall and resurgence;
7. To highlight the views and contribution of prominent Muslims such as Hazrat Shah Wali Ullah, Hazrat Mujaddad Alaf Sani, Aurangzeb Alamgir, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Allama Mohammad Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah;
8. To study the impact of various political and religious movements initiated in the Indo-Pak Sub-continent with particular reference to the All-India Muslim League from 1906 to 1947;
9. To highlight and analyze the role of Muslim leaders, intellectuals, ulema, mashaikh, workers, women, youth, students, journalists, lawyers, peasants, labours, minorities and persons belonging to the other walks of life in the Pakistan Movement;
10. To examine the nature and quality of organized opposition to the Pakistan Movement and to analyze the reasons thereof;
11. To compile a year to year history of the activities of the All-India Muslim League and its other wings up to 14th August 1947;
12. To publish the biographies of the true patriots and the selfless workers of the nation and the country.
13. To establish a library containing all authentic historical books on Indo-Pakistan affairs, reference books, newspapers and all material which was published during the Pakistan Movement and other related material about the political struggle against the colonial powers especially in the Muslim countries;
14. To establish “Darul Terjamah” for the purpose of translating relevant literature into Urdu, regional and foreign languages;
15. To hold meetings, exhibitions, programmes, lectures, seminars, conventions and public gatherings which will help in the projection of “NAZARIA-I-PAKISTAN”;
16. to propose courses for the study of Pakistan in the schools, colleges and universities and to establish an Art Gallery depicting the history and struggle of Muslims in the Sub-continent since the arrival of Mohammad Bin Qasim;
17. To compile the memoirs of the workers of the Pakistan Movement with regard to various national events;
18. To organize delegations comprising Pakistan Movement Workers, intellectuals, and other suitable persons to project and explain “NAZARIA-I-PAKISTAN” at home and abroad;
19. To organize delegations of the students, youth, intellectuals, journalists, political and social workers for touring various parts of the country for the purpose of projecting “NAZARIA-I-PAKISTAN” and to work for the unity and integrity of the country;
20. To assist, support and honour the families of the Workers of the Pakistan Movement through such means as may be necessary;
21. To patronize and encourage such newspapers, journals, organizations and writers who actively uphold the ”NAZARIA-I-PAKISTAN” and make specific contribution to the welfare and the prosperity of the people and the country; &
22. To publish books, booklets, posters, handbills, calendars, diaries, journals, stickers, badges and other materials for the guidance and inspiration of the people with regard to “NAZARIA-I-PAKISTAN”.

Vision

The Trust’s above-stated functions form part of the overall grand ideological vision of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Mohammad Iqbal as expounded in their countless authentic statements, writings and speeches. The focus of this vision is to build up Pakistan into a fully democratic welfare oriented modern state based on Islam’s universal approach of justice, fairplay and respect for all human beings, irrespective of caste, creed, language, colour or religion. The contours of this vision are fully reflected in the famous Objectives Resolution passed by Pakistan’s Constituent Assembly on March 12, 1949.

Mission

The Trust’s primary task or mission is to organize and encourage academic activities to impress upon the nation that the only way to preserve its hard-won freedom, identity and integrity is through establishing a truly Islamic, democratic and just social order conforming to the vision of our Founding Fathers as well as to the promises made during the great Pakistan Movement. This wake-up mission calls for continuously creating awareness about the following fundamentals of our existence:-

1. Ideological roots, aspirations and vision of Pakistan Movement;
2. Our long struggle and sacrifices for winning independence from oppressive colonial powers and other vested interests;
3. Great infrastructured benefits and vast opportunities of development created for our people by Independence;
4. Future course of action and strategies for fulfilling the unrealized dream of building up a fully democratic, prosperous and just society;
5. Restoration of self-esteem and confidence in our vast physical, geographical, human and ideological potential which if utilized vigorously can take us to the heights of material and spiritual happiness.

The Trust’s inspirational awareness creating programmes are meant for all segments of society, especially young generations who need to be equipped with full knowledge of our struggle for independence, our motivational Ideology and our great cultural heritage. This type of awareness can go a long way in encouraging youngsters to achieve their personal best, promote their life-long learning and skills, build positive self-esteem, prepare them for challenges of the future and make them an enviable asset of the nation.

Programmes

The scope of Trust’s mission is wide and varied, requiring long and sustained efforts. It has undertaken a series of steps for spreading its message across the country and abroad including the Islamic World and other friendly countries with whom we would like to launch an exchange programme in terms of joint research projects and mutual visit of scholars and academicians from both sides. We believe that our relations with Islamic World are sea deep and much higher than Himalaya. We hope that our research links with Islamic World will develop day-by-day. In this context we would like to promote, in the near future, the idea of establishing Pakistan Chairs in different universities of the Islamic World.

As for the Trust is concerned it plans to establish a specific Study Desk on Islamic World at its main campus at Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam, which will be responsible for undertaking joint research ventures focusing common interests of Islamic World and Pakistan in different fields since they have common friends and foes as seen in their decades long friendship.

Broadly speaking, the Trusts’ programmes can be divided into two categories: general and specific:-

General

1. Regular conferences, seminars and lectures on themes of ideological, historical and current importance;
2. Round-table discussions on events bearing on country’s integrity and identity;
3. Periodic lectures, highlighting services of celebrities of Pakistan Movement and importance of historical events which lead to our Independence;
4. Publication of literature to promote the Trust’s Mission;
5. Periodic exhibitions of Pakistan-related books, documents and rare historical photographs;
6. Week-long programmes and speeches, essays, sayings and other contests for youngsters on national days relating to Pakistan Resolution, Independence, Allama Mohammad Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam;
7. Ideology related inspirational programmes (Quirat, Hamd, Na’at).

Contacts abroad & Exchange Programme

The Trust has initiated an exchange programme with other educational and research organizations in the country. It also encourages joint academic ventures with other countries particularly the Islamic World. Exchange of research material with a number of institutions of the Islamic World is underway.

Specific

• Construction of a grand building as Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam in J/1 Block, Johar Town, Lahore;
• To construct a new building as Aiwan-i-Nazaria-i-Pakistan adjacent to the existing Aiwan-i-Karkunan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan to accommodate Nazariati Summer School and for establishing a full-fledged Documentation and Research Centre;
• Construction of a beautiful Madar-i-Millat Park and Centre on Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam, Lahore;
• Installation of a highly informative Website about Pakistan Movement in particular and Pakistan in general
• To establish an FM Radio Channel to promote the Ideology of Pakistan;
• Opening up of a gallery of 500 rare and unique photographs of Pakistan Movement at Aiwan-i-Karkunan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan, Lahore. T.V Channels frequently use this gallery as a background spot for their documentaries throwing light on Pakistan Movement;
• Nationwide celebrations of different years dedicated to Quaid-i-Azam (2001), Allama Mohammad Iqbal (2002), Madar-i-Millat (2003), Pakistan’s Dynamic Youth (2004-05) and All India Muslim League (2006-07);
• Special educational programmes on the thoughts and achievements of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal;
• Motivational programmes of various types for younger generations such as:-

1. An innovative and inspirational four-week Nazariati Summer School.
2. Several types of Ideology related prize winning contests and competitions.

• A two-hour informative and thought provoking Pakistan Awareness Programme for all levels of students, elementary, schools, colleges and universities.
