American Express Building Leadership Award

The American Express Building Leadership Award was established in 1999 to recognize outstanding organizations for their leadership in investing in the people of the charitable community, through an emphasis on the development of internal staff, board, and volunteer leadership. This honor was previously known as the Leadership IS Award.

In 2010 the American Express Building Leadership Award was reframed to the American Express NGen Leadership Award which recognizes a transformational leaders age 40 or under.  IS is no longer soliciting nominations for the American Express Building Leadership Award, but we encourage you to nominate an individual for the American Express NGen Leadership Award.

The final receipient of the American Express Building Leadership Award was Community Voices Heard in 2009, which was honored for empowering low-income people in New York City and State to advocate for public policy changes that improve their lives.
