Circuit of the Americas

To the south-east of Austin, Texas, there is a brand new motor racing track called the Circuit of the Americas, being used this weekend for its inaugural event – the Formula One United States Grand Prix. While Street View shows the track at an early stage of construction, new Google satellite imagery of the circuit allows us to take a detailed look.

Graveyards in Parking Lots

To mark Halloween this year, we’re visiting some unusual burial places. While it is common for cemeteries to have parking lots, you might think it unlikely that the reverse would happen. However, there are a surprising number of graveyards in parking lots across North America. One of the most notorious examples is the grave of Mary Ellis in New Jersey.

Churches With Detached Towers

We recently took a look at a number of Churches with twisted spires. Rather more common are Churches with detached bell towers, though the architectural styles vary wildly. The most famous example is Italy’s Torre di Pisa, more commonly known as the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
