EDF map of dirty heating oil in New York City
*Under review is a new application that is being reviewed or an inspection is being set up. If it is an existing system and renewing, under review means the DEP is setting up the inspection. A new application could be a building that is currently burning natural gas or No. 2 heating oil but wants to switch to No. 4 or No. 6 oil.
**Futher information regarding particulate matter (soot) pollution levels and emission sources in New York City is available from Chapter 1 of our report, The Bottom of the Barrel: How The Dirtiest Heating Oil Pollutes Our Air and Harms Our Health.
