This weekend marks the first free trial weekend for Guild Wars 2, when the lands of Tyria are expected to be flooded by people whose friends have gifted them a weekend pass code. But what if you don’t have a friend to give you a referral code? What then?

Well, never fear: games.on.net is here to help you out. Simply head on over here to this forum thread and post a reply telling us, in 50 words or less, why you think Guild Wars 2 sounds like fun and why you’d like to play.

That’s all there is to it! Head on over there and let us know. We’ve got 50 keys to give away and we’re just waiting for you. Move! You don’t want to miss out on The Lost Shores Event, do you?

The trial runs from right now through to 5:00 PM Sydney time on Monday November 19.

How do I redeem my key?

Visit register.guildwars2.com to create an account and put in your key. You can then download the client from there, or from our file library instead. (You’ll need to patch it, but why not save yourself 14 GB?)

Don’t need one, because I have the game and am still quite enjoying it. But I want to play with more fellow GoNers, so if you ever thought about giving it a go I recommend having a crack for a key and trying it out.

I was going to get GW2 , but then 3 different group of people are split across 3 different servers. No local AU/NZ server. Didnt bother with it .

I tired ROM for over a year on the AU server and enjoyed it until it became too pay2win and a daily chore .

I hope GW2 actually offers an AU server down the track along with a free trail account

There are several unofficial Oceanic servers which you can find out if you look for it.

Not only are many friends on the server are from the U.S, the Aussies actually continue to hold the torch for WvW for your server when the U.S peeps are in bed. They love us.

200ms ping is fine for an MMO.

I Believe Isle of Janthir and Sea of Sorrows are the two unofficial ones I know about, I’m on Isle and there’s plenty of Aussie guilds on there :)
