Given the Robot Chicken team’s fondness for all things gory and/or comic-related, it was probably just a matter of time before Walking Dead comic writer (and Walking Dead TV show exec producer) Robert Kirkman made an appearance on the Adult Swim animated show.

As it turns out, that time is coming Sunday at midnight when the zombie overlord will make his acting debut on the sketch show, which Stoopid Monkey Productions head honchos Seth Green and Matthew Senreich create at their Stoopid Buddy Stoodios studio.

That’s the good news. The even better news? You can see said appearance below and read Kirkman’s thoughts about the experience.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How did your Robot Chicken appearance come about?
ROBERT KIRKMAN: I’ve gotten to know Seth Green a little bit in the last couple of years and  I see Matt Senreich at Comic-Con every year. We have a little kick-off dinner. So, I’ve gotten to know those guys and they asked me to be on Robot Chicken. I like robots, I like chickens. I figured it would be a lot of fun.

It was pretty cool because I got to be directed by Seth Green. I’m not really an actor, so I’ve never really done anything like that. It was kind of awesome to have him say, “No, scream like this!” and “A little bit more like that.”

Do you now have more sympathy now for the actors on The Walking Dead?
I still have no sympathy for the actors. It’s an extremely easy job! [Laughs]

The sketch implies that Robert Kirkman is a man who eats fish bones and license plates. Thoughts?
I wasn’t too on board with that. But, look, I’m game for anything. I’m willing to poke fun at myself. And, listen, maybe I have eaten the occasional license plate. I’ve had hard times before.

Did you get to keep your doll?
[Laughs] You know what? I haven’t even seen it in person, because they hadn’t made it when I did the voice stuff. But I’m going to look into that.
