Thanks to Jim Hightower for recording CityWIDE Radio's first celebrity promo. You can hear his 2 min. commentary every weekday on WIDE-LP between 4:15 and 4:30 pm, and now from time to time his voice can be heard promoting our station as well as his daily "little pops of populism."
The following CityWIDE Radio schedule changes are being made for the new year, effective 1/2/2012:
Talk shows:
Matt Rothschild's "Progressive Radio" show (which he posts each Monday on the web) is moving from Friday to Tuesday.
"Culture Shocks," heard Tuesday - Thursday in 2011, is shifting to Wednesday - Friday.
Photos of some of the installation work leading to the initiation of broadcasting from our Hammersley Road transmitter site have just been posted. See the About WIDE-LP link in the left column.
If you read about WIDE-LP in the Nov. 18 Isthmus cover story and were wondering "how can I get involved", here is your chance. CityWIDE Radio has an advisory Radio Council to provide citizen input on our programming and to help with community outreach. The Council's first meeting in some time is coming up next week. It will be at 7 pm at 5610 Hammersley Road, which is the home of the Program Director, Bob Park. It is also the location of the garage where our transmitter is currently located, so you will have a chance to see what hardware it takes to run a low power station.
The Isthmus cover story featuring our station and carrying the above title is now available online at www.thedailypage.com/isthmus/article.php?article=35233 .
Madison's free news weekly, Isthmus, has a cover story in its Nov. 18, 2011 issue on community radio which features our radio station, with photos from our Hammersley Road transmitter site. For the time being we are using (with permission) the front page picture as our Twitter page image at twitter.com/#!/WIDE_LP. Use our tweets to follow what's being discussed each week in the CityWIDE Radio talk shows.
