DEScribe© is a Windows based editor that allows teachers to create content in a distance education friendly format.
Description
DEScribe© is a free, desktop editor application that enables easy creation and handling of Distance Education (DE) content for a variety of DE platforms including the MAFLT DEViewer. It works on Windows XP and Windows Vista.
DEScribe© presents a customizable, user-friendly interface available in several languages. The content editing capabilities satisfies even the most demanding course developer. In addition to standard text editing (including built in spell check with ‘replace’ capability), the editor can create tables and insert image and media files within the document.
The DEScribe© editor currently exports only to MAF-LT’s DEViewer© in both online and offline applications. However, we plan to implement additional exporters soon - including one in SCORM, which is supported by multiple viewers and CMS's/LMS's (Course Management System/Learning Management systems). Multiple exporter capability enables to instructor to create courses in a wide variety of formats ranging from print to multimedia. This gives the widest possible range of students opportunity to study the course.

Additional Installation Notes
If you are new to DEScribe, please take a moment to view introduction and how-to guides on DEScribe. These are located on the CD image for the CD distribution, or online in the Latest_Training_Materials folder.
If you are upgrading DEScribe, please see the upgrade procedure in the DEScribe Readme.txt file.
If DEScribe is going to be installed on a computer that has a connection to the internet, please download and install MAF DEScribe x.x.x.x Setup.msi located in the Latest_Online_Install folder.
If DEScribe is going to be installed on a computer that does not have a connection to the internet, please download MAF DEScribe x.x.x.x.zip located in the Latest_Offline_Install folder.
If DEScribe is downloaded for CD distribution, please download DEScribe vx.x.x.x.iso located in the Latest_CD_Distribution folder.
Please note, this is a CD image and must be written to a writable CD as an image file. If you are unsure of of how to do this, please view the readme.txt file in the Latest_CD_Distribution folder.

Known Issues with DEScribe 2.0.1 beta
- A number of strings have not been translated into Russian, French, or Spanish
- HTML Exporter does not work
- Package Explorer toolbar and context menu-items are multiplying each time a project is closed and re-opened
- Links to the online DEScribe forum and to our issue tracker “Trac” are out of date.
- An error occurs when attempting to paste a copied node into the package node
- String resource error in the Metadata form and DEViewer Export form
