Sublime Text 2.0 Released
Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m pleased to announce that Sublime Text 2 has graduated out of beta, with 2.0 now available for your text editing pleasure.
I’d like to thank everyone who’s purchased, used or given feedback on Sublime Text 2 since the inital version in 2011. Sublime Text has had an amazingly positive reception, and it’s time to raise a toast to many versions to come.
Compared to the last beta, version 2.0 offers a more polished experience, with over one hundred tweaks and improvements. Some of the notable ones are:
Retina display support for OS X. Additionally for OS X, the ODB Editor Suite is now supported, as is the system find pasteboard.
Quick Skip Next. Quick Add Next (Ctrl+D⌘D) is one of the most popular editing commands in Sublime Text. It’s now been complemented with Quick Skip Next (Ctrl+K, Ctrl+D⌘K, ⌘D), to skip over matches, so you can select just the ones you want:
Lots more! Text drag and drop, improved build systems, CSS completions, modified tab highlighting with the highlight_modified_tabs setting, Vintage mode improvements, and many more. See the changelog for the full list.

Really amazing app!
Just want to note to users that I updated and I had been using the default preferences, with personalized modifications, and the update resets the defaults, so be careful.
Also, noticed that “highlight_modified_tab” is back and working, but I can’t find where to change the highlight color, is this an option? Red on grey is really gross for the text, I was hoping to change it to white for modified, black for unmodified.
But more importantly this is seriously the best app I have ever come across, I work in C, C++, R, Python, MATLAB, LaTeX, HTML, CSS, and Javascript, and I have ditched every other app and IDE for just this. Life changing! Congratulations and such truly amazing work. Extremely happy to have bought a full license.

Found it, actually, sorry: Modify line 633, 640, 647, or 654 (the “fg” option) in “~/Packages/Theme – Default/Default.sublime-theme” depending on what kind of theme you’re using (Lines refer to dark and light theme-specific options).

After taking a first look i have to say I like sublime2 very much. One thing I’m really missing is an integrated terminal window (like in Geany).

I’m happy with Sublime Text 2!
I have like 1 week testing it for Lua and JavaScript and is great! Is fast, Stable and good-looking. Thanks! I will buy a copy as soon as I can.

It seems the line highlight for one of the default themes (monokai bright) just high lights the line numbers on the left rather then the entire line the caret is on. Any way to fix/change a setting?

Thanks for the update – I was really hoping for tag autocomplete. In both dreamweaver and visual studio once you hit the closing > it autocompletes the tag. I love everything else about Sublime Text and prefer to use it where possible but having this feature would be the icing on the cake!

Love it! My favorite tweaks include “Double clicking on whitespace will select only whitespace” and “Find in Files can exclude directories using “-some_path/” syntax”. I’m surprised that people haven’t started making requests. I’d like the “Save a Copy As…” feature (like NPP and GIMP): It’s good for creating a revision copy while continuing to work on the current file.

Great work Jon, love the new version. Bold foldernames in the tree view is very helpful! and the ctrl+k feature is pretty cool too.
I tried the text drag feature, but it is not working for me in Linux. It works on my windows machine though.
I am running fedora 17 with the kde desktop
George – “Save a Copy” has existed for most, if not all of Sublime’s existence. It’s called “Save As”, found under the file menu, or shortcut key ctrl+shift+s.

I have been shopping for a new editor after Coda 2 disappointed a bit (seems so heavy). I’m blown away by how powerful, flexible, and __FAST__ this editor is (I threw a 100MB stress test file at it and it didn’t skip a beat). I also love how each platform version uses native UI elements. Congrats on 2.0 and PLEASE continue to develop this editor!

I love this editor, but I have to say I don’t think I’m too fond of how many of the menu items are getting Emacs-like control sequences in recent versions :S
Maybe we need a proper key binding window (not a config file buried somewhere) to fiddle with Vintage mode commands or change menu shortcuts?

Sounds petty, but I didn’t want to buy Sublime Text 2 while it was still in beta…
anyhow, I just purchased my copy and then emailed a friend and demanded that he also buy a copy (very forward of me, I know!).

FYI, a little auto-updating hiccup you might want to improve. I got the “do you want to update” message when I started the beta build and said yes – but the old version had already started by this time and was still running when the installer tried to drop the new version. So when it tries to copy the new executable over the old one, it gets an access denied error.
It’s only a small thing – I just needed to close the old window – but it would be a neat fix for the future.

But please please please can you make a system package (PPA) for Ubuntu? I really dislike not having ST integrated into the OS, it doesn’t work properly when pinned to the Unity sidebar.

Finally got the release downloaded and installed! I had gotten turned onto NP++ by some friends, but since I spend most of my time working on OS X or Linux, the lack of cross-compatibility made it pretty useless to me. I spent about a year and a half trying out all sorts of editors trying to find one that would give me all of the features I wanted out of NP++, but on all platforms.
I tried out Sublime Text 2 and quickly realized how much its power exceeded that of NP++. Between that and how involved the Dev is with the community, I can’t see myself ever (willingly) using any other editor.

This is a very wonderful editor. Since I started using it, I have never turned back again. I am very happy with this upgrade, and I am going to spend that money on the full licence.

@Jon: I don’t exactly know, but did you start the IRC channel on freenode? Or is in inofficial? Would be nice if you appeared there every now and then. I don’t know how you are discussing new features, work procedures or similar with your community but IRC channels are really nice for that purpose.

This is absolutely the best tool on Earth! Developing this tool to be operating system agnostic was genius. When I switch from one OS to another it’s seamless. The simplicity, speed and efficiency ST2 offers is second to none.
The Monokai color scheme and superior syntax highlighting rocks!

Congratz! Really awesome update! My favorite new features are the “Delete Folder will prompt before moving the folder to the trash” (I got bit by this one yesterday!) and “Save with encoding” (I was really missing this one, having switched from Textmate).

In short, it may be the modern editor that gets me out of Emacs, and it’s the most fun I’ve had with an editor since CygnusEd on the Amiga over twenty years ago. Like that one, this feels lightning-fast and polished, as well as beautiful.
