COUNCIL MOURNS THE LOSS OF AMBASSADOR JOHN CHRISTOPHER STEVENS, FOREIGN SERVICE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT OFFICER SEAN SMITH AND TWO ADDITIONAL AMERICAN PERSONNEL IN LIBYA

The Council of American Ambassadors mourns the loss of United States Ambassador John Christopher Stevens, Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith and two additional Americans who were killed in the September 11, 2012 attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

The Council condemns the violence that led to their deaths and stands in solidarity with the President, the Secretary of State and our colleagues at the United States Department of State and at U.S. embassies around the world at this sad time.
