Tens of thousands of Badgers fans packed into the Rose Bowl in Pasadena this New Year’s Day. But one more fan was actually above the crowd.

From Santa Monica Pier to Rodeo Drive, it was easy to spot a Badger fan in Southern California the week of the Rose Bowl. But the presence of so many Wisconsin fans really made an impact on Mel Miller, a San Diego resident who became an honorary Badger.

Dan Uttech '01, '06 watched the Badgers score back to back Rose Bowl wins in 1999 and 2000 as a member of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band. Now this journalism teacher headed back to Pasadena as an alumnus and a fan. Follow his journey from Arizona to California as he descended upon Camp Randall West with thousands of his fellow Badgers.
