Indeed, many of our rooms have bay views, balconies and views of the Berkeley campus and beautiful Berkeley hills. All of our 22 guestrooms in our Berkeley boutique hotel have been lovingly and newly renovated with the services of well-known green designer Kelly LaPlante. Many of our rooms have balconies and views of the San Francisco Bay, the beautiful Berkeley Hills and the UC campus. If you are visiting UC Berkeley, why not stay right across the street!  All rooms have one queen size bed, and some rooms can hold a twin size roll-away cot for an extra charge.

Our Bed and Breakfast is an island of serenity within the vibrant energy of Berkeley’s famed Southside of campus. Get cozy in our queen size bed with  organic cotton bedding from Coyuchi, SDH down comforters (faux down upon your request) and a pillow of your choice from our pillow menu. Each room’s artwork is dedicated to a specific academic department on campus. The rooms feature desks, nightstands, LCD televisions, ceiling fans, closets, energy efficient hydronic heaters, bathrooms with showers and original 1920’s petite bathtubs.

Each room is a showcase of green products. From the paint on the wall (Benjamin Moore Non-VOC paint), to the Eco-Timber FSC hardwood flooring and Flor carpet tiles. Organic cotton bedding, Nandina bamboo towels, EO products locally made organic soaps and shampoos, curtains made from recycled soda bottles and more. Even our old armoires were remade into desks—on site—by the Refinishing Touch, saving resources and greatly limiting the carbon footprint for this work. Check out our business center on the second floor to find more pieces from these armoires that were repurposed and reused. We are the greenest hotel in Berkeley!

A fun fact!: The furniture in our rooms—bed, nightstands and desk—are all custom made for us based on the architect’s original drawings of furniture for the rooms. The building was originally the College Woman’s Club and Walter Steilberg, the architect (previously the chief draftsman and engineer for Julia Morgan of Hearst Castle fame), had sketched designs for furniture that the Women’s Club never could afford to have built. We found these original drawings at the archive of UC Berkeley’s architecture school, right across the street from our hotel! It was from these plans that our unique pieces were created for us.
