Why Cloud-Based Services Make Sense
By Allison Boccamazzo TMCnet Web Editor
Cloud communications has become the face of the future in many ways. Companies are increasingly making this critical switch for a multitude of reasons and benefits. Cloud-based services are designed to offer the benefits of having your own on-premise applications without the overheads or demands of local resources; users enjoy the same applications without having to install updates or check and re-check that the configuration has not been changed; and you also don’t have to pay any unexpected upgrade fees or associated costs.
Needless to say, the amount of time and money one can save by simply switching to the cloud is impressive. A recent GFI blog details a few very good reasons why individuals should choose cloud-based services over alternatives as detailed by a GFI video.
1.) Cost: We all know that there is a considerable amount of money involved in setting up, maintaining and running software applications in-house. Not only do you need servers and a support staff, but you also need in-house security and a range of supporting elements to make it all work. Cloud-based services ultimately eliminate the need for all of the above by using a per-seat licensing model with one predictable fee that takes care of everything.
2.) Scale: Sometimes there is no need to buy a server when you only have a few employees. Having said that, cloud services can be scaled up or down as dependent on your needs.
3.) Physical Resources: With cloud-based services, a PC and reliable Internet connection is all you need. Gone are the days of dedicated servers, high-bandwidth demands and an extensive IT support team. All of the work is significantly cut down for you to make things noticeably easier with cloud-based services.
4.) Automation: With a cloud-based solution, you no longer need patches, back-ups or new hardware, as everything is in the cloud and done for you by your hosting provider. The video puts it perfectly by asking, “Why do it yourself when it can be automated?”
The video details eight great reasons for choosing cloud-based services. To see all of them, check out the short informational video above.
