Camera Gantry Take 2
As I said in the last video I wasn’t to happy with how smooth or straight the cart was with the 6 little wheels and the one rail. I found that local garage repair companies recycle several old garage doors daily included wheels, brackets and tracks. I contacted one and they didn’t even want to charge me to pickup some scrap track. So this build just got a whole lot cheaper and with two tracks for the camera cart it solved my smoothness issue as well as my camera swing. Check out the video and a few photos below. But first you may want to check out my first whack at this camera gantry where I show more of the welding, cutting and setup.

New and improved double sled system in action!
Camera and tripod bolted to the new inner sled slash cart slash truck. What ever you think is best to call it.
Just the slightest touch and the camera now takes off. Much smoother than the old cart.
Easy to setup for a bench shot!
Now I can get any angle without the tripod legs under foot. NICE!
And this works great as an inspection microscope and I was even able to solder under it while zoomed. Just about as good as an optical stereo microscope and I could take footage as I repair or build in this mode. So maybe even better than a real microscope with $0 added cost really.
This is what I see while in inspection mode with my Sony handycam CX-160 and just a bit of zoom.

why you want to give me one? Ha.
I have my 100MHz tek that I use for everything but was on the lookout for something to use with HAM radios in the UHF range. A Lecroy 470MHz popped up on Craigslist for $100 and the guy was also getting rid of a nice tek 350MHz for the same price to make room for all new gear. I couldn’t say no could I? HA! I found I like the 350MHz tek better than the Lecroy but darn it I still need the 470MHz so I’m stuck with all three. That said I’m going to get rid of the bench Flukes DDMs that came with those scopes just because I don’t use them. eBay item some day I guess. -

Sounds like they are bargains allright. All I come across are ones close to full price, which, in this economy, does not look possible anytime soon.
However your shop looks very nice and very organized, and your videos are very informative.

Todd to Todd, Thanks for the compliment. If you take your time and watch a lot of them you will snag one. I just got a nice 100MHz tek TDS340 for $99 off ebay for my son. He wanted one for his room but I didn’t want get him a POS being he could use mine if he wanted. Then one day in the last few minutes of an auction this nice clean working tek was still at 1 bid so I popped in and put a bid in the last 10 seconds and snagged it. It seem like a lot of work but I’m not watching more than 1 or two items in any given month so not to bad.
