Meet Jenni Jane

Hi! I’m Jenni Jane, I’m from Dallas, Texas and I’m a world traveler. I recently spent 17 months exploring the globe, I went to over 15 countries and learned an incredible amount about myself and the world around me. I spent those two years blogging about my passions, namely doing stupid things and cooking food, which has resulted in my current position as the jill of all trades for an online magazine. But, as most things do, that particular adventure had to end and now I’ve found myself back home in Dallas after 10 years of living away from home.

I landed here in April 2012 with a hundred bucks to my name and a back pack full of stories and dirty clothes. Now the adventure is exploring a city I’ve realized I don’t really know, being single with the possibility of dating for the first time in 5 years (I had a boyfriend for 3 and dating isn’t really an option when your on the road), the ups and downs of living with my parents while I save for my own place, and don’t forget the endless entertainment of my career as the Associate Editor and Creative Director for GreatDesign.com, an online design magazine I started 6 months ago with a local textile designer.

My daily life is never predictable, I talk to everyone I see, go to every new bar and restaurant I hear of, make a fool of myself on dates often, and always manage to have brand new adventures. I’m the most outgoing person you know, I never turn down a good laugh and I might embarrass you in public. I don’t make apologies unless I know I’m wrong and I’m still learning not to take certain things too seriously. I think I’m probably a lot like you, so come along with me and I’ll show you what I find.

There are really two versions of me to be honest: Jenni and Jenni Jane

Jenni has always been a little wary of straying off the “right path.”

This is why Jenni went to high school and studied hard, rarely did anything wrong and was friends with everyone. This is why she spent much of her high school career volunteering locally in Dallas and throughout South America. This is why she visited and applied to 15 colleges across the country and why she went to college straight out of high school. This is also why, in senior year of college, she decided it was time to start looking into being a legit designer. So, this is why she packed everything up and went straight to the Pratt Institute in New York City right out of college.

Jenni Jane, on the other hand, likes to mix things up a bit.

This is why she convinced Jenni to go to that house party in high school, the one she got in BIG trouble with her parents for. This is also why she dragged Jenni along to all those juke joints in college (and MADE me dance on the bar) and was even the reason for Jenni eating way too much pad thai in the Pratt Studios during late nights of model building.

But I have to thank Jenni Jane for getting me into all those troublesome but ultimately fun scenarios, because she has once again convinced me to do something that some might call stupid. She has sat me down, looked me in the eye, and said “don’t freak out, but this is gonna be sweeeeeeettttt!”

Over the course of the last two years, and however much longer this adventure lasts, Jenni and Jenni Jane have and will continue to work well together. Jenni kept me safe and fully stocked with hostel rooms to hide out in and blog about and Jenni Jane made sure I got off my butt and did something blog worthy. Now that the adventure is in one place, both of us are looking forward to finding out just exactly where I want to fit in to this crazy place.

So, I love you guys; and Jenni Jane, even though you are kind of a pain in the butt, your still my favorite (don’t tell Jenni)
