It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 37th
annual ITG Conference in historic and beautiful Columbus, Georgia.
Situated in the heart of the South, the 2012 conference is sponsored by Columbus State University, the Schwob School of Music and the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau.
We invite you to take a look around the website, which as you can imagine will be constantly updated, so please check by often! Some things to look forward to:
Whether driving or flying directly to Columbus or Atlanta, you'll find many convenient options at your disposal.
We have built an exciting roster, with artists arriving from every continent. (except Antarctica...anyone know a trumpet player there?)
The Crown jewel of the conference is the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts; housing three performance venues and the spectacular Jordan Concert Organ, we know everyone will enjoy multiple performances in comfort and delight!
For exhibits and the awards banquet, the
Columbus Convention and Trade
Center is only a block
away from the RiverCenter. Situated on the Chattahoochee River,
this facility will offer ample space for successful vendor presentations and some surprise performances throughout the day!
The revitalized downtown and arts
district provides numerous dining opportunities all within easy walking
distance (1-2 blocks). Our late night jazz events will take place in this area
at select venues. Additionally, there is ample, inexpensive
parking throughout downtown Columbus, most lots no more than $2 a day. Walking around town is easy and efficient,
there is little traffic and generous sidewalk access for foot and bike travel.
Our official conference hotel, the Columbus Marriott is located across
the street from all conference venues. Please note that Columbus,
Georgia does not participate in on-line travel sites such as
Travelocity, Expedia, etc. so we encourage you to reserve your lodging
directly from this site where you will receive the lower conference
rate.
In addition to all the exciting conference events, there are many local attractions and recreation
opportunities available to conference attendees. It should also be mentioned
that several national historic sites and state parks are within a short driving
distance of Columbus.
We have terrific support from both the university and the
city; anticipation and enthusiasm are high here in Columbus for the 2012 ITG conference.
