aswnet patch: Patch for aswNet.sys, BlueScreen in NETIO.SYS on Windows8.

  1. Disable avast! self-defense module (Settings -> Troubleshooting -> Enable avast! self-defense module)
  2. Download 32-bit or 64-bit package and unpack into the \Windows\System32\drivers folder
  3. Enable avast! self-defense module and reboot

NOTE: the patch is intended for build 7.0.1474 and it will invalidate itself with the new program update. It is applicable to Windows 8 only.

How to enable extra logging inside aswnet driver

  1. Download the package here: aswnetlog.zip
  2. Extract to any folder, e.g. c:\users\[username]\aswnetlog\
  3. Start elevated command prompt, Win+X, A, and change to the directory used above (cd %userprofile%\aswnetlog)
  4. Run startlog.cmd
  5. Extra logging is enabled until reboot and will be saved into any possible crash-dump.
