The 40-foot boat that has been crunching coral heads in Kaneohe Bay for more than a week was removed Saturday morning and is now sitting at He'eia Pier, according to a state Department of Land and Natural Resources spokesperson.
Salvagers have tried removing thye boat several times since it was first grounded, but decided to hold off on the project because tidal conditions weren't ideal. Removing the boat at the wrong time could cause further reef damage.
Depending on the condition of boat, it will now either be crushed at the He'eia Pier and disposed of, or taken to the Ke'ehi Lagoon Boat Harbor to see if it can be repaired.
