In the fall of 2006, YAC moved to its new home, the Powerhouse Community Arts Center, a vintage 1928 brick and stone warehouse structure that once housed the Oxford Electric company.

Phase one renovations were completed with generous grants from the Mississippi Arts Commission Building Fund for the Arts, the City of Oxford and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The YAC is currently conducting fundraising efforts for phase two of renovations, focusing on the completion of the theatre space, including new lighting, flooring, seating, staging and acoustics.

The Arts Council supports the efforts of over 20 organizations, provides funding through our community grant program for a diverse range of events, hosts classes and workshops for children, students and adults, and provides a performance space for arts organizations through The Powerhouse Community Arts Center.

The Powerhouse is available for rental by arts groups for classes, workshops, and live event from concerts to stage productions.  The facility is also available for rental for special events from fundraisers, meetings, and wedding receptions.

The Powerhouse features two large rooms that offer flexibility.  The 2,800 sq foot exhibition hall hosts a rotating art exhibit and offers seating for 200 or space for a reception for 400.  The theatre features seating for 250 or the seats can be moved to create a dance floor and reception area for 420 people.  The rooms are connected allowing guest to flow between the rooms offering a maximum capacity of 400 seated or 820 for a dance or reception.

The Powerhouse has relationships with the top catering services and restaurants in town to provide food and beverage service for your event.
