Joulupukki is Finnish, and I am Finished!

First off and most importantly, thanks for hanging out with me during my month of updates! I’m terrible at responding to comments, and you guys are so kind and patient with me. I do appreciate it. (Thanks so much to the folks who left comments for the first time ever. I love that so much. AND, thanks to those of you who commented every single day! Amazing!)

As you know, it’s Halloween. My greatest Halloween occurred in 1992. Some drummer friends of mine shared a house and some ashtrays, and I went to their Halloween party dressed as their floor. Two decades have passed, and I haven’t been able to come up with anything that beats the floor.

Earlier this evening, as Husband Jeff and Neighbor Jeff walked the kids around the subdivision, I did this:

(I’m going to see a guy about an ankle in the morning, and the only time he can meet up with me is 7:45. The thought of sticking my foot in someone’s face always gives me the cringing willies, so a pedicure seemed to be the right thing to do. (I know you sometimes think I’m crazy.))

The girls had their Halloween parties today. Chili cheese dogs were consumed, children were wrapped up in toilet paper, apples were dipped in caramel, and googly eyeballs were attached to pipe cleaner spiders with hot glue. It doesn’t get much better than that, does it?

So, yes. Halloween + the final installment of Daily October at Fluid Pudding. It feels right for me to leave you with the song that used to scare the crap out of me as a kid. At 42, it still scares the crap out of me, but for entirely different reasons.

Thanks for sticking it out with me.

I will miss your posts every day. What a weird song. My parents had a Christmas album of Peggy Lee songs. I liked it. I would totally get a pedicure if in your situation.

What a depressing song. You know what’s not depressing? Your posts. I’ve really been enjoying having a new one every day. I’ll miss them. Oh, and my parents also had a Peggy Lee Christmas album. I loved it, my sister has it now.

Do you have to stop? It was great and could go on being great! And where are all you Fight Club members? I’ve backslid a little but I’ve been sick!

also – I was hoping that joulupukki was a finished knitting project… : ) Thanks to the fact that there was no knitting in this post I looked it up and now I am a tiny bit smarter. I owe you one.

I just like the words “googly eyes”. I’m tempted to glue googly eyes on random things around the house.

NoMoBlahPo is over already? Wow, that went fast. REALLY appreciate that you rescheduled it for October ! November has always been a tough month to stay on top of around here. Not that you haven’t always been the bright spot in any day when I read one of your posts, but, well, you know…just “Whew!”

Speaking of the Fight Club commitment (waving cheerfully at Sal’s Girl, above) — was the deadline Halloween, or Thanksgiving? I think I still may have a shot at it if it was Thanksgiving. but if it was Halloween, then I am sadly out of the running (not that I ever was actually running, but, again…you know!)

    Onward!

I don’t think we had a time limit Carroll. Do you think we need one? I really liked the idea of Fight Club because that’s what it takes to get me to eat right and exercise! Doc appointment today–I gained two pounds! But he says it’s probably all water in my feet. Double water pill for the next three days!
