Tuesday Weigh In

Posted on January 26, 2010 by Chip

Every year people say they want to get healthier, lose weight, or work out more. I am one of those people.
One of my co-workers has challenged a few of us to lose weight over the next 12 weeks.
I’m well on my way! wahoo! Last week I weighted in and 176. This week, 174! I want to get down to about 160. Now I know that isn’t a ton, but it sure makes me look good

Mr. Stern, you better get busy buddy!

Howdy

Posted on January 22, 2010 by Chip

How’s everyone doing these days? I know I said I was going to post more often.  I will! I promise. Life has been so busy.  I’m not sure when I’m going to find the time to watch all my tv shows.

However, life is good for the most part.  I need to upload and talk about christmas and new years. Those were some very fun times. I kept the roads very hot!

Anyhow, I’ve got to get back to work for now.

It’s Always the Unexpected

Posted on December 22, 2009 by Chip

Yesterday was a decent day at the beginning. If you follow me on twitter, or facebook you know what i’m talking about.

It started out just fine and dandy, got up, got a shower, got dressed and went to work.  Nothing unusual about that right? What went wrong is what I discovered when I came home yesterday evening.

I came home turned th water on to wash my hands and I had no water! Grrr. Ok so before I go into panic mode I had to think, did I pay the water bill.  Yes, I did. In fact I’ve paid more than I owed. So the next thing I thought was did they turn  my water off accidentally? Walking out to the meter I hear it running. I opened it and sure enough that needle was just a spinning.

Next thing I did was look for ground water and didn’t see any so I went to my crawlspace. Now keep in mind it’s getting dark now. sure enough there’s water under the house….and not just a little bit…i’m talking about 8 inches or so.

you can see where the water was

You can see where the water was until the city came out to shut it off.

spacer Not the best way to start vacation.

So anyhow, I took half the day off to meet the people that came out to fix my silly leak.  Turns out the main line busted coming out of the ground.

Yes, it was my fault, I didn’t shut ALL the vents around the house.  The one the was closest to the pipe is the one that is so hidden you forget it’s there.

They’ve left and now I’m waiting on the water to heat so I can finally take a shower. I feel so dirty.spacer

Hate

Posted on December 14, 2009 by Chip

Words can be so hurtful. I try,  and try not to say things in the wrong way(Tact) It’s one thing my former employee always told me to work on. I guess that’s why I never just blurt out what I truly want to say. Shame on me!  Always try to be nice and figure out a way without being hateful or hurtful.

Anyhow, what brings this about is the word HATE. Hate is such a strong word.  I have a co-worker that just sits around and does just enough work to get by.  Just enough work to not get fired.  Recenlty though, we’ve found him sleeping.  We’ve also noticed his stuff starting to be stored here(at work)  Whatever his reason for doing so is wrong.

I’m not sure of his home life. Is he homeless? Is he avoiding his girlfriend? I don’t know.  He has a desk where he keeps his bills, supplies, church photos, etc… Today, I found his laundry basket of dirty clothes.  Guess that’s where my detergent has been going.

So, why do I not like him? Do I feel that he’s abusing the system? Do I feel used? YES! I find myself saying that I hate him.  I hate that word Hate. Wish it were never in my vocabulary.  When I do find myself saying it, I do retract it and say “I truly dislike” this person.

Drafts

Posted on December 11, 2009 by Chip

I’ve been going through and looking at posts that I never published.  Some of them were actually finished.  I’m not sure why I never published them.

So if you see a few posts that look old, or don’t sound relevent to today, it’s probably because it was an old post that I’m just getting around to publishing.

Scholarship Money

Posted on December 11, 2009 by Chip

In todays Tennessean,  “How to spend lottery profits is expected to be one of the top issues in the General Assembly this year.”

I have a suggestion, if there is so much extra money, expand who can get a scholarship. There are many adults, single adults struggling to find a career path.  Many know where they want to go, but few have funds to back that desire.

Broaden that range of scholarship money so that some of those adults that play the lottery, can

Something New This Way Comes

Posted on December 11, 2009 by Chip

Does anyone else use firefox?  I’m a big fan of this web browser.  I love it’s functionality, I love the way I can bookmark things.  Before, I had to load every web page to see if one my blogs had updated.  Since I installed Firefox that has all changed.

Last night though, I downloaded the new 2.0 firefox.  It’s got a new look and even better Rss feed reader.  Firefox also has a better tab browser than IE.  If you are still using Internet Explorer, I highly recommend trying out Firefox.

Do Not Look Down

Posted on December 7, 2009 by Chip

You’ve done it, I’ve done it, we’ve all done it. It’s right there in front of you, but yet we all just ignore it. It’s waiving in our faces, but yet, we never acknowledge it’s there.

What am I talking about? I’m talking about that piece of paper, that plastic coke bottle, or that empty bag of leftover chips, that people always seem to walk past and never put in a trash receptacle.  Heck, we even kick it sometimes just for fun. We never muster enough energy to simply bend over and throw it in the garbage.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m guilty of it.

It’s kind of funny though to sit back and watch how many feet step on, step over, or simply step away to avoid it.

Don’t look down! You might actually bend over to pick it up!

Blind Side

Posted on December 6, 2009 by Chip

Have you been to a movie lately? Have you seen any previews on TV? If you have and one of those previews was of “Blind Side” you definitely need to go see that movie!

Based on a true story out of Memphis, it’s about this kid separated from his mother, then taken in by this family that teaches him how to play football where he becomes a great NFL player.

Sandra Bullock plays the mom and does an awesome job. One of the best lines I though(or one that I can remember right now) is “he’s like an onion, just peel him back in laters, “where’s my knife”

Go see the movie!
