WGXC 90.7-FM: Hands-on Radio
This seven-part series focuses on the extraordinary work of Scanner (British artist Robin Rimbaud) who traverses the experimental terrain between sound, space, image and form, creating absorbing, multi-layered sound pieces that twist technology in unconventional ways. From his early controversial work using found mobile phone conversations, through to his focus on trawling the hidden noise of the modern metropolis his restless explorations of the experimental terrain have won him international admiration. free103point9 is delighted to be working with the artist on this special broadcast event February 3-9, 2013 from midnight to 6 a.m. Each night, the broadcast will focus on a specific theme including live performance, sound installation, dance scores, film scores, composition, and radio works.

As radio continues to evolve in the digital age, it remains the medium that reaches the widest audience worldwide. This multi-purpose medium can help people, including youth, to engage in discussions on topics that affect them. It can save lives during natural or human-made disasters; and it provides journalists with a platform to report facts and tell their stories.

Crank Sturgeon has been active in performance, installation, and sound art since the early 1990’s. Accompanied by ridiculous costuming, pointed instructions, and parables (gone awry), and even the occasional dirigible or two, these elements intertwine, transforming into space-defying interventions, and invariably involving audience participation.
Since the Eighties, Al Margolis has run the indie cassette label Sound of Pig Music. His own music has succeeded in fusing ambience with industrial and musique concrete, producing strange soundscapes that are both soothing and unnerving, often at the same time. In the Nineties, Margolis evolved the Sound of Pig label into Pogus Productions, replacing the cassette medium with compact disk technology.
World Lines is the drone/experiemental/noise/psychedelic solo project of Logan Visscher from Hudson, NY.
