About

spacer What is this website? It is a monthly online magazine (also known as an ezine) devoted to Lovecraftian horror.  In addition to the monthly magazine, I blog about all things Lovecraft several times a week.  To stay in the loop, subscribe to this website via email or RSS (right side of this page), follow me on Twitter, and join us on Facebook!

What is Lovecraftian horror? Those of you familiar with Lovecraft already know, but for those visitors who do not, here is a good explanation from Wikipedia: Lovecraftian horror is a sub-genre of horror fiction which emphasizes the psychological horror of the unknown (in some cases, unknowable) over gore or other elements of shock, though these may still be present.  It is named after American author H. P. Lovecraft (1890–1937)… The hallmark of Lovecraft’s work was the sense that ordinary life was a thin shell over a reality which was so alien and abstract in comparison that merely contemplating it would damage the sanity of the ordinary person. You can read the entire article at this link.

Who runs this website? Mike Davis is the editor and founder of The Lovecraft eZine.  Others who graciously give of their time and talent are:

  • Design artist (t-shirts, flyers, & much more): Leslie Herzfeld
  • Story artists: Steve Santiago, Galen Dara, Ronnie Tucker, Nick Gucker, Mike Dominic, Stjepan Lukac, Dana Wright, Robert Elrod
  • Story readers: Bruce L. Priddy, David Binks, Juliana Quartaroli, Morgan Scorpion, Vincent LaRosa
  • Kindle/Nook design: Kenneth W. Cain

The main goal of The Lovecraft eZine is and always will be to publish free quality Lovecraftian fiction — fiction that is every bit as good as print Lovecraftian anthologies.  Quite a few well-known writers have been published here, but I also accept submissions from first-time writers.  It’s all about the quality of the writing and the submission guidelines.

Enjoy The Lovecraft eZine and please tell your friends!

Mike Davis

    Mike,

Thank you for your excellent new Lovecraft eZine!

I’ve added a link for you on my blog, and posted a minor promo piece for you there too. And I hope both will increase your traffic.

Please feel free to visit my three sites listed below when you are in the mood for some Lovecraft related audio, documents, or photos. And feel free to add any of these to your collections for use in any way, public or private.

If you ever listen to any of my readings of H. P. Lovecraft’s “The Hound,” “At the Mountains of Madness,” or “Fungi from Yuggoth,” I would appreciate any comments you might feel like making on them.

Keep your eZine and blog going as long as you can; we all need more Lovecraftian entertainment!

I’ve been a lurker at the threshold here for a long time. The thing is I have hard time getting comfortable to read stories on my desktop or laptop so I kept putting off reading any stories from the ezine until I purchased all the issues through current last night for my kindle. I have now read issue number one and I loved the stories! I have a lot of catching up to do so I’ll keep this short, just wanted say that this is a top notch production with stories I think HPL himself would heartily approve of. So glad I can read it my Kindle!

If you stare hard at the extraordinary reality unearthed by our current science, you might conclude he was about right!

It’s been fun working on illustrations again, Mike. I’ll have to get you a story or two in the upcoming months.
